Rachel Zoe Makes a Bride and Groom of Kate and Anne

Kevin Mazur/Wireimage

When Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway hit the New York premiere of their movie Bride Wars, we couldn’t help but notice the dichotomy between Kate’s white-and-navy Oscar de la Renta gown and Anne’s simple Band of Outsiders tuxedo. Of course, it wasn’t a coincidence. Rachel Zoe, who styled both Kate and Anne for the premiere, tells WWD that the ladies, in fact, wanted to play off the archetypes of bride and groom! “Kate had this idea in her head. She wanted to play off the whole bridal theme of the movie and do something over the top. It had the drama of a bridal gown but it wasn’t totally bridal,” said Rachel. “It was Annie’s idea to do a tuxedo and my initial reaction was that they were going to look like a bride and groom…and she liked that.” We can’t wait to see what these two fashion plates have up their sleeves for the rest of their red carpets. Tell us: What do you think of Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway’s bride and groom premiere look?

Stars Turn Out to Celebrate With Alberta Ferretti

Forget the recession! On Wednesday night, Hollywood fashionistas welcomed Italian designer Alberta Ferretti with open arms. Ferretti celebrated the launch of her 4,500 square foot U.S. flagship store on Melrose Ave., showcasing the Alberta Ferretti Collection, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, Alberta Ferretti Girl, accessories and footwear. “This is a great location and a big deal,” said Elisha Cuthbert. Attracting the likes of Lucy Liu, Marisa Tomei and Nicole Richie, Ferretti kept it simple and sweet — just like her frocks. “It’s a very good evening for me.” Inside the store, Richie and Joel Madden sipped on Martin & Rossi champagne with friends Nicky Hilton and David Katzenberg inside the innovative space. “People are depressed – they drink and they shop, which is what I’m going to do right now!” said Mad Men’s January Jones, who summed up her take on the current state of economy. “I got a beautiful purple silk coat that’s reversible that has light purple fur on the inside. Its kind of pimpy — I’ll pimp it out occasionally,” said Jones, who admitted to receiving a very kind discount from Ferretti. “How thrifty am I?” – Kimberly Lansing

Beyonce’s Bold Fashion Choice: “She Looked Fantastic”

Karl Prouse/Catwalking/Getty; Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Beyonce Knowles is known for her glamorous wardrobe choice, tending to glittering gowns, curve-hugging minis and elegant creations from Armani for her many red carpet events. Which is why we did a double take when the singer turned up at the MTV Europe Awards in not one, but two dresses from notoriously edgy British designer Gareth Pugh. Beyonce’s stylist Ty Hunter tells PEOPLE, “Gareth Pugh’s work is explosive and she had to wear it. She thinks he is an amazing talent.” The young Brit is a master of dark, almost-goth looks with incredible architectural details. Beyonce’s performance dress, which is made of elastic bands and rows and rows of YKK zippers, first appeared on the designer’s Fall 2008 runway with matching leggings that Knowles wisely skipped. Pugh himself tells PEOPLE, “I’m delighted she wore my dresses, she looked fantastic.” We agree, and we love that Beyonce is supporting up-and-coming young designers while trying out cool, new looks. That metallic robot glove, we’re a little less sure about. Tell us: What do you think of Beyonce’s fashion choice? – reporting by Monique Jessen

Katy Perry has been anything but shy with her wardrobe choices since hitting the top of the charts with equally bold single “I Kissed a Girl.” And while hosting the MTV Europe Video Music Awards last night in London, she turned up in 11 over-the-top looks! While she looked sweet in a swirling pale pink Elie Saab, we couldn’t take our eyes off her more daring looks. She hit the red carpet in a eye-popping Jean-Charles de Castelbajac satin dress, changed into a carousel-inspired frock and then got the audience riled up with another Jean-Charles de Castelbajac dress — this one with Barack Obama’s head shimmering in sequins. Can we still have fun with fashion and music? Yes, we can. Tell us: What do you think of Katy’s wardrobe choices?

Katie Holmes Designs Again for Her Broadway Debut

Evan Agostini/AP

As if starring in a Broadway play wasn’t enough, Katie Holmes created her own stunning outfit for the opening of All My Sons last night. In partnership with her stylist, Jeanne Yang, Katie dazzled in a gorgeous jumpsuit of her own creation with influences that seemed to span the decades, from the delicate black lace at the neck fit for an Old-Hollywood screen siren to the Halston-inspired white silk all-in-one gathered at the waist and ankles. It’s not the first time Holmes has worn one of her own creations, sporting a chic Holmes-Yang navy halter dress to the L.A. premiere of husband Tom Cruise’s film Tropic Thunder in August. While there’s no word of anything in the works, we’d love to see Holmes create a clothing line. Tell us: Do you think Katie should be the next star to produce her own collection? Would you wear one of her designs?
