VIDEO: Lauren Conrad Debuts Her “Really Girly and Fun” Collection at L.A. Fashion Week

Andy Fossum/Startraks

Lauren Conrad couldn’t help but feeling “so nervous!” before her already-successful eponymous line’s show as part of Spring 2009 Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios last night. Clad in one of her own flowing black maxidresses with perfectly coiffed hair by the backstage team from Warren-Tricomi Los Angeles, the Hills star told PEOPLE that this show is “really girly and fun. I just wanted to have fun with it.” But, the star still took out time for charity. “This show is sponsored by mark and specifically the m.powerment campaign. All the models [are] actually wearing the Have a Heart necklace that we did, and we’re giving $250,000 to seven different foundations, and what’s really cool is they brought some of the girls here from some of the foundations. That’s what it’s all about.” Also in the audience, BFF Lo Bosworth and rumored Conrad amour Kyle Howard, who told PEOPLE he’s “super excited” for Lauren. And even though Whitney Port couldn’t make it, her support came through earlier in the day. “Whitney wrote me a really long message this morning that was the sweetest thing. I mean we’re just really supportive of each other.” says Conrad. See highlights of Lauren’s collection in our video.

Lindsay Lohan on Her Leggings Launch: “Really Exciting”

Marion Curtis/Startraks

Yesterday Lindsay Lohan blogged about the launch of her leggings line 6126 in New York, and PEOPLE caught up with the multi-tasking star at the after party for the Cinema Society and Dolce & Gabbana sponsored premiere of Filth and Wisdom at the Thompson LES hotel to hear how it all went. Lohan tells PEOPLE that “it was really exciting. It was at Henri Bendel’s and they did an amazing job for us. We sold 700 leggings in an hour, more than I ever thought would ever happen.” And Lohan is clearly pleased at her involvement in the line, telling PEOPLE “it was a really cool thing to be a part of and to know that I had a hand in designing the leggings.” And the leggings launch wasn’t the only exciting thing on Lohan’s agenda while in New York. “I went to Madonna’s show last night. Every time I see another show of hers she becomes a newer icon to me. She’s timeless in a way that Marilyn Monroe was but was didn’t get to fulfill.” And considering that Monroe was the inspiration behind the name of Lohan’s 6126 line, that may just be the ultimate compliment.

Karl Lagerfeld Works His Magic at Chanel — With a Little Help From His Famous Friends

Visual/Flynet

Karl Lagerfeld charmed the fashion pack at Chanel’s spring/summer 2009 show on Friday with a magical collection of light sparkly boucle dresses and metallic ruffled gowns accessorized with feathers, sparkly jewels and lucite platforms. The models strutted out, through a Chanel ’boutique’ constructed true to size on the runway. Working a different type of magic from their front row seats were Harry Potter pals Emma Watson and Clemence Poesy, giggling together alongside Jemima Khan, Zoe Kravitz and Claudia Schiffer, the current face of the brand. “I loved the shoes with the feather detail,” gushed the German supermodel after the show “and the sleeves on the dresses.. amazing!” Milla Jovovich, who is in Paris for meetings on possible design projects, couldn’t have agreed more, telling PEOPLE “The sleeves were so beautiful, they had a really old fashioned quality.” With Schiffer caught in a sea of bright papparazi flashes, screams of “Claudia!” filled the airy Grand Palais and it was left to the 18-year-old Watson to congratulate Mr Lagerfeld, with a kiss on each cheek before vanishing into the Parisian streets. Magic indeed. –Monique Jessen

Dita von Teese Reveals Her Secret Love — For Tights

Francois Durand/Getty

At Jean Paul Gaultier’s dance-inspired show in Paris on Tuesday night, Dita von Teese could hardly contain her excitement. “It was everything I come to the shows for, you know, theatrics. It felt like a show,” she told PEOPLE. And that it was, with a trio of dancers stretching and pirouetting down the catwalk, the collection included wraparound jersey dresses that untied to reveal swimsuits with attached capes and neon tights under floaty dresses. “I’ve always enjoyed going to ballet classes to see how other dancers rework their clothes,” said Von Teese who used to do ballet herself. “They do ridiculous things like cut the crotch out of tights and wear the legs on the arms.” So does the queen of ladylike chic have a secret stash of neon tights? “Well, I don’t get as wild as I used to with the tights, but I still do buy them extra, extra large and pull them right up. I love all the ballet tights from the fifties.” Perhaps her penchant for tights will get a mention in her new beauty bible, which will be published next year. “I’m writing a book on how to get an eccentric retro look on your own without a glam-squad,” she revealed, adding that she gets red carpet ready sans stylist and always does her own hair and make up. Tres magnifique!

Naomi Campbell and Famous Friends Walk the Runway for Charity

EMPICS Entertainment/ABACA

Naomi Campbell brought her supermodel power to the runway for her 2008 Fashion for Relief charity catwalk show benefiting the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. Naomi welcomed everyone to the show in a wool Alaia dress and Alaia ankle boots, telling reporters, “This is what the fashion world is doing to give back. I won’t ask people to do anything unless I think it’s really important. I only ask when I think it’s something they will be passionate about. All these people here tonight feel the same way.” Singer Estelle was the first to strut down the runway to the sound of her hit song “American Boy.” Runway turns followed from Chanel Iman, Tyson Beckford, Kim Stewart and Naomi herself. Supporter Mischa Barton watched from the front row, telling PEOPLE, “I do lot of work with Save the Children. Today I was doing press with them and they told me this charity is affiliated with theirs. I learned up on it, and Naomi is doing a good thing with it. She has always been very friendly and caring to me. She’s really sweet.” Though she has walked countless shows, the supermodel was still nervous — one of her models ran a little late — but the feeling backstage was perfectly summed up by Estelle, who told PEOPLE as she came off the runway, “Wicked! They cheered and stuff. It felt like a show. I was smiling, dancing and everything. I want to go and cry now.” –Reporting by Monique Jessen
