Shedding their school girl image, knee-high hosiery is getting a fresh update from some of Hollywood’s most stylish starlets. Ashlee Simpson keeps it sporty, pairing them with her low-top Converse sneakers. Jessica Alba playfully wears them in a contrasting color over a pair of black opaque tights. And Rihanna keeps it sexy in thigh-high pair that show just a hint of skin. We’re not completely sold on this trend, but we’d love to hear from you. Tell us: Would you wear this look?

No one would ever accuse Mariah Carey of not knowing what she likes — especially when it comes to her wardrobe. Throughout 2007, the chart-topping diva showed off her very distinctive style, wearing everything from a short and lowcut LBD to an even shorter bright belted mini. And when it came time to ring in the new year at TAO Las Vegas, the pop princess stuck with what she knows and slipped into this extra-tight strapless micro-mini. While Mariah may be one of the few stars with the figure to pull off super-slinky looks, when it comes to this particular dress, we think that what happened in Vegas probably should have stayed in Vegas. Roberto Cavalli brought out some of the biggest names in Hollywood to celebrate the launch of his new Just Cavalli boutique on Manhattan’s famed Fifth Avenue. Though the singer has been enduring grueling days of rehearsal for her upcoming tour, Cavalli favorite Jennifer Lopez joined Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Diane Kruger, Mary J. Blige, Tyra Banks and more to party with the legendary Italian designer. We hear that Jennifer, who spent most of the party at Cavalli’s side chatting about her upcoming tour, was shocked to see such crowd when she arrived — but probably not as shocked as we were by her outfit! The wide hat may be a runway trend for next spring, but shoes with actual 3-D spikes on them? And our eyes can’t even focus to make out the psychedelic print on her billowing maxidress. We love that Jennifer isn’t afraid to try a new look and is always glamorous — but is this really her best look? Tell us: What do you think of J.Lo’s look? Is it a hit or a miss?

Most us tend to dress down for a sporting event — even Posh did! — but Eva Longoria got totally decked out David Beckham’s first game for the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night. From her luxe accessories — Fendi sunglasses, Gucci purse, YSL platforms — to her A/X Armani Exchange overalls and cropped jacket, Eva looked more ready for a night out on the town that an afternoon at the stadium. And we can’t begin to figure out how she climbed stairs in those six inch heels! We understand wanting to make sporty look sexy, but this just seems a little over the top to us. Tyra Banks never holds back on the red carpet — over-the-top gowns with dramatic hair and makeup have become the daytime diva’s signature look. But even knowing that, Tyra’s gown at the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Show last Friday made us look twice. Not only did the custom-made Roberto Cavalli gown require handlers to help Tyra walk down the red carpet, but we cannot figure out how she sat down in it! When you look as good in a bikini as Tyra, why cover up with so many poufy layers of fabric? Tell us: What do you tlhink of Tyra’s gown? Love it or hate it?

We’re usually big fans of Kylie Minogue’s style, but we aren’t exactly sure her look from yesteday’s Ocean’s 13 premiere in Cannes is museum worthy. While Kylie definitely has the stomach to pull off a sheer midriff panel, the patent-leather belts running up and down make this Dolce & Gabbana frock look a bit dominatrix than fashionista. Jennifer Lopez never ceases to amaze us with her inventive style — screen siren sexy one day, sweet and demure the next. And today’s outfit in Paris is no exception. Clad in a white fur vest, a skull-printed Thomas Wylde caftan and towering white leather and wood platform heels, the singer arrived to an instore appearance at the mobbed Virgin Megastore on the Champs-Elysees. Her fans went wild to see her, and one Parisian woman observed that it was “a very 60’s Bohemian look, but honestly it looks great on her.” There is a lot going on in this outfit (there is a chain belt and mega-bling under that vest) but if anyone can pull it off, it’s J.
