Heidi Klum Brings the Booty Bling To Her Denim Line

PNP/WENN

Heidi Klum knows what it takes to make a good pair of jeans, and she’s not afraid to shake it! “It’s very important to have a little bit of something fun on the butt,” she told PEOPLE Tuesday, shaking her derriere at an event to celebrate the launch of her fall/winter 2008 denim line, Heidi Klum by Jordache. The model and Project Runway judge wore a sheer blouse and a pair of jeans from her line — complete with “booty bling” on the back pocket — to greet fans and sign autographs at Bloomindgale’s in Manhattan on Tuesday. Working on the line, Klum learned that how a pair of jeans fits on a girl’s behind is the most important thing to consider when designing. “The first thing girls do [when putting on a pair of jeans] is turn around and look in the mirror and they look what their butts look like,” she said. “It just has to look right and as perfect as possible.” Unfortunately, her jeans were the only thing Klum wanted to talk about, playing coy when asked about recent reports that Jennifer Lopez would be the guest judge for Runway’s season finale. “Maybe,” she said with a grin. – Chris Willard

Tim Gunn on Katie Holmes’s Baggy Jeans: “I Don’t Get It”

James Devaney/WireImage; Inset: Stephen Lovekin/Getty

Tim Gunn is never shy about his opinions on Project Runwaycalling a dress a “pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park” isn’t exactly holding back. And when PEOPLE talked to the debonair fashion expert at the Tide and Downy Total Care Launch Party, he expressed his disapproval of Katie Holmes’s recent penchant for fall’s new baggy jeans. “I have to say, Katie Holmes has become so much more sophisticated in so many ways, but I think she’s in a dip right now. I can’t explain it.” Gunn actually sees the adaptation of the new look as a move back towards her younger look, saying “She ascended from this tomboyish waif look to an incredible sexy sophisticate. We realize how much style she’s capable of. I don’t get it.” But for those of us who are digging Katie’s baggy look (also spotted on Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston), Gunn does give us hope. “With the right shape, it can work very well.” – Jessica Gold Haralson

Kim Kardashian’s Iconic Denim Shoot For Radar

Courtesy Radar

Look familiar? Kim Kardashian teamed up with Radar magazine to re-create Brooke Shields’s legendary Calvin Klein ads from 1980. Katie Holmes Really Loves Her Pegged Jeans

Humberto Carreno/Startraks; INF; Ahmad Elatab/Splash News

It’s been hard to miss Katie Holmes’s recent style switch-up since arriving to New York to start rehearsals for her Broadway debut. Gone are the chic dresses and sleek bob — instead, Katie has been sporting a shorter, wispier ‘do and tons of baggy denim. In fact, we’ve spotted Katie in the same pair of baggy, pegged jeans multiple times in the past week! Turns out that they are the $360 “Barracuda” style from the celeb-fave men’s Prps line — in fact, David Beckham swears by them (and wife Victoria borrows them from him literally!). Prps is even coming out with a women’s style for fall based on how much women love the men’s line, appropriately called “the Boyfriend.” We know Katie is onto a huge fall trend here — she’s not the only star we’ve spotted in baggy jeans lately — but we can’t quite get adjusted to her new look! We want to know what you think. Tell us: What do you think of Katie’s new look? Do you love her jeans as much as she does?

Sheryl Crow’s New Clothing Line: “Very Americana”

Courtesy Bootheel

Sheryl Crow didn’t have to look any further than her own closet to find the inspiration for her new Bootheel Trading Co. line of jeans, vests and T-shirts. “I have an incredible amount of vintage that I’ve collected over the years,” says Crow, whose line (named after where she grew up — “the boot heel of Missouri”) debuts in Dillard’s department stores on Aug. 7. “My style is very Americana. I gravitate to pieces that are American by nature, either western or Depression-era.” When she’s not on tour supporting her latest album, Detours, you’ll find the Grammy winner at home on her Tennessee ranch with her 15-month-old son Wyatt, 16 horses and two Labradors. “I do almost everything in jeans, except sleep,” says Crow, 46, who wanted the denim-based line she calls “comfortable and earthy” to still be affordable for her friends back home. “Denim has become so high-priced as of late. My friends back home don’t want to spend $250 for a pair of jeans. I want them to be able to walk into a medium-priced store and be able to afford a cool pair of jeans for less than 100 bucks.” Crow’s most expensive jeans are $69, with shirts staring at $29 — click here to see the whole line at dillards.com.
