Scarlett Johansson — Girl With a Monogrammed Handbag

Actress, designer, muse — what isn’t Scarlett Johansson these days? Sunday, the star (and current model for the house) sat front row at a Louis Vuitton show designer Marc Jacobs said was partly inspired by her. The designer called his latest collection -– inspired by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer — Girl With a Monogrammed Handbag, a reference to Girl With a Pearl Earring, whose title character was played by Johansson. “Scarlett’s a great girl,” Jacobs told PEOPLE backstage after the show. “I love her. She’s totally cool and sexy.” Johansson returned the compliment, pronouncing Jacobs’s show “beautiful,” and “so wearable.” The actress, who appears in Louis Vuitton ads, also said: “I love the whimsy.” She spent the show – held in a sweltering tent in the Louvre courtyard in Paris – chatting to Antoine Arnault, the 27-year-old son of LVMH president Bernard Arnault, who was seated next to her. Jacobs decribed the show as “romance, but we wanted it bold.” Sounds like a description of Scarlett herself.

Scarlett Johansson Debuts Reebok Line

Scarlett can now officially add designer to her resume. The starlet has teamed with Reebok to create a sporty clothing line called Scarlett Hearts Reebok which launches today, March 1. Even if you are not a hard-core gym freak, Scarlett says you will still love it. “It’s a lifestyle collection,” she says. “You can go directly from the gym, slip it on [and] go to meet your friends for coffee.” Featuring brightly colored sneakers, short-sleeved hoodies ($100), baseball tees ($50) with heart-shaped cutouts and comfy sweatpant leggings ($80) in grey and navy, the collection is “a mixture of both the ultrafeminine and urban lifestyle,” says Scarlett about her designs. The star has signed with Reebok for at least three seasons, but for her, the best part is “the fun colors!”. View all of Scarlett for Reebok’s line by clicking here.

Fantasy Gifts: Our Birthday Picks for Scarlett Johansson

As pedigreed as her film roles may be, it’s hard to believe that Scarlett Johansson is only turning 22 tomorrow! She may be young, but her sense of style is already well-honed. We actually have a few thoughts on what gifts to get this glamour girl, you know, if we had unlimited budgets and were actually friends with her. Anyone who fits those qualifications, feel free to crib from us! Do you have any gift ideas for Scarlett?

1. After spending some time in London filming Scoop and Match Point with director Woody Allen, she may be missing the anglo-way of life. How about a colorful candle from British designer Matthew Williamson? Maybe she just needs a spot of tea and some biscuits while watching some of Woody’s best movies!

2. We wouldn’t expect Scarlett to show up to her birthday party in jeans. We think she’d look lovely in this satin dress from pal Stella McCartney or this sweet, but sophisticated strapless dress from Vera Wang.

3. To keep her bombshell looks in place, how about some killer red lipstick from Three Custom Color and L’Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara? Of course, if she wants to keep playing around with her hair, she can try Color Pulse for a quick change.

4. We wouldn’t want to leave out Scarlett’s constant companion — her chihuahua, Maggie! We think the fashionable pooch would look fab in this Polo skull and bones sweater when she emerges from her new Bianca carrier.

Why Scarlett Johansson Loves Her Chip & Pepper Jeans

I love the look of low-rise jeans, but what I don’t love about them is the inevitable plumber’s crack I display whenever I so much as think about sitting down in a chair. Clearly, those denim-designing brothers Chip & Pepper have been hearing the same complaint. They recently introduced the Stella, a jean with an asymmetrical cut — short 7″ rise in the front, longer 11″ rise in the back. In other words, your booty stays right where it belongs – covered inside your pants. The silhouette has been flying off the shelves across the world (get yours at revolveclothing.com or neimanmarcus.com). Two weeks ago in London, Chip ran into Scarlett Johansson, who bemoaned that she couldn’t find a pair of Stellas anywhere. He FedExed her a pair the next day, and she thanked him with a huge bouquet of flowers. Halle Berry loved her first pair so much she picked up three more. Uma Thurman got four pairs to wear on the set of her latest flick, In Bloom. Now that I’ve managed to snag myself a pair of Stellas, looks like my rear end is in rarefied company. — Alison Singh Gee

The Shape Debate: In Praise of Curves

There has been a lot of buzz this week about ever-shrinking starlets and too-skinny models. So we’d like to give props to a few women who always look great. Seeing Kate Winslet at the Toronto Film Festival reminded us how beautiful she is, and how she has never shied away from having a real body (and a great body, at that.) Gwyneth Paltrow, who in younger days was reed-thin, is now one hot mama with her voluptous post-baby body. Is it just us or does she seem to be glowing everytime you see her now? And in the younger generation, Scarlett Johansson makes a break with the stick-thin figures and celebrates her curves, bringing to mind screen sirens of days gone by. And yes, these women are still slim and have very enviable bodies (we’ll take looking like that in a dress any day!), but we applaud them for being comfortable in their own skin and hourglass figures. Marilyn would be proud.

If you’d like to let us know what you think about the shape debate, take PEOPLE’s Stars’ Bodies: Too Thin? poll, and if you like, leave a comment here.
