Joel Madden’s DCMA Shoe Collaboration with K-Swiss: “It’s a Good Marriage”

Scott Kirkland/INF

Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden are expanding their DCMA Collective lifestyle brand just in time for the holidays, celebrating their new K-DCMA shoe line at their flagship store in L.A. on Saturday night. “We wanted to do shoes for a while,” Joel tells PEOPLE. “We just wanted to find the right company to do it with. K-Swiss is cool. It’s a classic label. And skating, graffiti, rock and roll, those are all the things we do. It’s a good marriage.” The shoes, which come in lace-up sneaker and slip-on styles for both men and women and range from $60 to $70, feature DCMA’s signature prints (think skulls, hearts, lightening bolts) with their brass knuckle logo hardware and printed shoelaces. But they won’t be around for long — only 1,800 pairs of each style will be made. Joel’s girlfriend Nicole Richie tells PEOPLE she’s already a fan. “They go along with the whole DCMA style. I actually have a few pairs,” says Richie, who recently designed her first jewelry line with Mouawad, House of Harlow 1960. “I wear them when I’m not wearing heels.” While the rockers say their shoes are for “anyone,” there are a few celebrities they’d like to get in their kicks. “Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Benicio del Toro,” suggests Benji. Adds Joel: “I’d like to see [our friend] Pete Wentz wearing them. ” They already have two satisfied customers — Joel’s 11-month-old daughter Harlow and niece Clementine, who have custom-made baby versions that aren’t available to the public. Says Richie: “They’re really cute!” K-DCMA shoes are available at dcmacollective.com, kswiss.com and select Finish Line stores. –Marisa Laudadio and Brett Malec

Stars Turn Out to Celebrate With Alberta Ferretti

John Shearer/Getty

Forget the recession! On Wednesday night, Hollywood fashionistas welcomed Italian designer Alberta Ferretti with open arms. Ferretti celebrated the launch of her 4,500 square foot U.S. flagship store on Melrose Ave., showcasing the Alberta Ferretti Collection, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, Alberta Ferretti Girl, accessories and footwear. “This is a great location and a big deal,” said Elisha Cuthbert. Attracting the likes of Lucy Liu, Marisa Tomei and Nicole Richie, Ferretti kept it simple and sweet — just like her frocks. “It’s a very good evening for me.” Inside the store, Richie and Joel Madden sipped on Martin & Rossi champagne with friends Nicky Hilton and David Katzenberg inside the innovative space. “People are depressed – they drink and they shop, which is what I’m going to do right now!” said Mad Men’s January Jones, who summed up her take on the current state of economy. “I got a beautiful purple silk coat that’s reversible that has light purple fur on the inside. Its kind of pimpy — I’ll pimp it out occasionally,” said Jones, who admitted to receiving a very kind discount from Ferretti. “How thrifty am I?” – Kimberly Lansing

Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage

What better way than to show off your new line than to wear it yourself? Nicole Richie took some pieces from her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line for a spin this weekend, giving us a peek at the line with some heavy gold and lacquered bracelets, oversized cocktail ring and even her gold headband. “I’ve always felt that great accessories are essential in every complete outfit and I wanted to create a collection that was easy to mix and match; to either wear alone as an everyday piece, or stack on to make more of a statement,” Nicole said in a press release. House of Harlow 1960, which is scheduled to hit Kitson in early December, will be a 35 piece collection ranging in price from $50 to $250 and inspired by Nicole’s sought-after style. Teaming up with celeb jeweler Pascal Mouawad, Nicole’s line uses leather, silk strings, chains, rivets, gold plated metals, peacock feathers and jewel-tone colors to explore themes like bohemian, gypsy, tribal, flower child and edgy street wear. So far, we think House of Harlow 1960 perfectly reflects Nicole’s style. We can’t wait to get our hands on it! Tell us: What do you think of Nicole’s House of Harlow 1960 jewelry so far? Would You Wear a Hippie Headband Like Nicole?

George Napolitano/FilmMagic

This fall, we’re all about headbands.  Not only do they bring preppy glamour to the ladies of Gossip Girl, they also rescue us from our own bad hair days.  But we just aren’t as sure about the latest incarnation of this hair accessory–the hippie headband.  Nicole Richie wore a bejeweled version by Jennifer Behr recently, opting for a sparkling take on the retro head gear that looks more glam than Woodstock.  We think she pulls it off to a dazzling degree, but we can accept that it’s probably not for everyone. We want to know:  Would you wear a hippie headband?
