No one would ever accuse Mariah Carey of not knowing what she likes — especially when it comes to her wardrobe. Throughout 2007, the chart-topping diva showed off her very distinctive style, wearing everything from a short and lowcut LBD to an even shorter bright belted mini. And when it came time to ring in the new year at TAO Las Vegas, the pop princess stuck with what she knows and slipped into this extra-tight strapless micro-mini. While Mariah may be one of the few stars with the figure to pull off super-slinky looks, when it comes to this particular dress, we think that what happened in Vegas probably should have stayed in Vegas. Mariah Carey is the ultimate sexy diva, while Miley Cyrus is the quintessential good girl. What do these two singing superstars have in common? Apparently, their taste in fashion! We saw Mariah step out in her clinging purple sweaterdress, cropped black jacket and black suede boots last month, only to spot the Hannah Montana star in a practically identical outfit in Toronto over the weekend. We love that Miley put her own sweet spin on the outfit, but we can’t help but giggle over how similar they are! Tell us: Who wears her purple dress better? Mariah or Miley?

Mariah Carey has an established over-the-top style — but even knowing her love for big hair, slinky dresses and high heels, our jaws still dropped over the shoes she wore out to dinner in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The singer (and new perfume maven) headed out to eat in a pair of Giambattista Valli platform heels that have a staggering five and a half inch heel on them (135 mm, to be exact). We cannot imagine being able to take one step in a pair of heels that high, much less spend a whole night out in them (although it does look like Mariah is getting a little help)! But maybe we’re just wimpy so we want to know what you think! Tell us: Would you wear Mariah’s high heels? Could you walk in them?

Mariah Carey has topped the pop charts for almost two decades, and now she’s setting out to conquer the fragrance world with her first signature scent, M by Mariah. What was it like collaborating with Elizabeth Arden?
“It was so much fun working with Elizabeth Arden. I mean, I never expected such a huge corporation to feel like a family. and that’s what it feels like to me. Like every time I work with them, they’re so welcoming in terms of the concepts. If I have an idea or something that inspires me, there’s never a time where they’ve been like ‘No, we hate that.’ Every single person from Arden has been fabulous.”

Did you tell them what your favorite scents were?
“Before I went there, I told them some of my favorite smells, and I described the Tiare flower — and they actually knew what it was. They had never used it as a base for any person before. When I got there, there was this huge board of all the things that I said that I loved. The thing about the blue grotto, Capri, and just all these references that I had given them. The sunset. It looked like it was a done finished thing. I didn’t realize how next level it was going to be. It was really amazing.”

So then you went back and forth with the perfumers? Did it take a couple of tries?
Well, we went to a few different perfumers and every time we would test a different fragrance. It was very similar to writing and recording a song for me. And not everybody realizes that I write my own songs — and they definitely don’t realize that I produce them. It’s a process that I’m really used to. They have told me that no one has been this involved in creating their own fragrance before. So I was like ‘Oh, that’s cool.’”

Where do you spray the perfume?
What I do is I spray it — and then walk into it.

Mariah Carey has never been one to go the low-key route with fashion — from big hair to little dresses, Mariah goes for high-drama at all times. So, why would that stop when she’s wearing as little as possible? The singer hit the ocean in Italy in a custom-made Roberto Cavalli string bikini with some pretty large bling, from her dangling earrings to her major Cavalli necklace. We can’t say that it’s a look that we would personally rock (see our tan-line phobias), but we can see how others would find it super-sexy. We want to know what you think! It’s not enough to be the top-selling female artist of all-time — Mariah Carey has to conquer the fragrance world too! The sexy singer announced that with the help of Elizabeth Arden, she’ll be unveiling “M by Mariah Carey” in the fall. You can’t miss Mariah’s signature butterfly on top of the glass bottle, but what does Mimi smell like? The scent is a miss of “exotic Tahitian Tiare flower with a deliciously warm marshmallow, [with]other facets, such as a Moroccan Incense/Amber accord.” And it can be yours too, starting at $39.50 at department stores in mid-September. It’s the battle of the Fashionista vs. the Diva! We spotted (and talked about!) Mariah Carey in her peek-a-boo Azzedine Alaia dress at a charity event last week — only to spot Victoria Beckham doing an interview in Central Park with Matt Lauer in the ivory version of the dress only a few days later! It actually doesn’t surprise us that these two ladies have the same taste — they do both love revealing a certain amount of skin in minidresses, after all. But we want to know what you think!
