Sneak Peek: Madonna Stars in Louis Vuitton’s Latest Ads

Courtesy Steven Meisel for Louis Vuitton

For weeks, rumors have been swirling that Madonna would be gracing Louis Vuitton’s new ad campaign. The French fashion house has remained mum — until now. Her Madgesty will indeed appear in the Spring/Summer ‘09 ad campaign that will hit magazines in February 2009. The star is shot by legendary photographer Steven Meisel (who infamously collaborated with Madonna on her Sex book) in a sultry French cafe setting. When it came to choosing the new face, designer Marc Jacobs wouldn’t have it any other way. “I wanted the campaign to be very bold, very sensual and very atmospheric. To carry off all these references and all its sophistication, we needed the ultimate performer — and for me, that is Madonna,” says Jacobs. We couldn’t agree more. Tell us: What do you think of Madonna’s Louis Vuitton ads? Do you think she was the best choice?

Madonna’s True T-Shirt Love: Bodas

Pacific Coast News

No matter what’s happening in her life, Madonna is still in love with British brand Bodas’s organic supima cotton T-shirts. The singer wears them “to work out, to run errands, to go out — she loves them for everyday,” a source tells PEOPLE. (She also likes them for primetime — she wore a black short-sleeve T in her 4 Minutes video with Justin Timberlake.) A Bodas spokeswoman tells PEOPLE that the singer most recently purchased a handful this summer. “She wears them out, and then her assistant comes in and buys five more,” she says. And unlike, say, Madonna’s one-of-a-kind designer tour outfits, you can actually purchase these looks. They’re $90 for a tank top or short sleeve, and $98 for long-sleeve styles, available at www.bodas.co.uk or at Barneys New York. – Courtney Rubin

Celebrity Hairstylist Sally Hershberger on Her Dream Star Makeovers

Landov

Celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger has coiffed just about every celeb you can name — including everyone from former First Lady Hilary Clinton to Tom Cruise, John Mayer, Julia Roberts and Lindsay Lohan. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a few stars left that she’d love to get her hands on. PEOPLE caught up with Hershberger at the grand opening of her new L.A. salon, where she dished about her dream clients, starting with Mad Men’s retro-beauty January Jones. “She’s so gorgeous,” said Sally. “I love that whole Catherine Deneuve/Grace Kelly thing — but I want to do her in a modern-day vibe.” And another another famous blond she would style a little differently? “I love [Madonna's] long hair, but I felt like it kind of pulled her face down,” she says of the performer’s recent show in N.Y.C. “I don’t want to put her down because I love her. I would just love it a little smoother and a little more hot.” Hershberger, who also has her own line of hair products, Supreme Head, feels that the key to sexy hair is keeping things looking natural by using just a little bit of product. “You don’t want to see the product in the hair,” she says. “That’s the biggest mistake. You want to be able to run your hands through someone’s hair and have it just look sexy whatever way they move it.” — Jed Dreben

Hot Shoe Alert: Madonna Takes Aim With Her Chanel Pistol Heels

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

The pistol-heeled shoes were a fashion favorite, but would anyone be brave enough to wear them on the red carpet? Well, Madonna has never shied away from starting a new trend or wearing a bold look, so the Material Girl hit the red carpet of her Filth and Wisdom premiere last night, sponsored by the Cinema Society and Dolce and Gabbana, in the gun-heeled shoes. We think it’s great that at 50-years old Madonna is still rocking the newest and coolest straight from the runway, but we want to know what you think! Madonna’s Tour Look: Sticky, Sweet And High Fashion

Frank Micelotta/Getty

The chances of Madonna coming out with a new look for her tour may be the safest odds we’ve ever taken — but we’ve still been on pins and needles waiting to see it. Her Madgesty’s long-time costume designer, Arianne Phillips gave a sneak peek to WWD of the costumes for the Sticky & Sweet tour launching this month, and it’s a treasure trove of high-end design styles! Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci contributed several outfits, while Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Miu Miu and Stella McCartney are responsible for shoes, Moschino for the sunglasses, and sundry other pieces are coming from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Jeremy Scott. The first set of costumes reference both gangsta style and Art Deco with the pieces from Givenchy. Phillips tells WWD, “She’s not afraid of being hard.” Next up, ’80s-inspired pieces with vintage Keith Haring prints, gypsy costumes from Givenchy, and ending with a futuristic rave with a Japanese touch. As for Madonna’s affiliation with the young Tisci for her costumes, Phillips explains “Riccardo’s a new young talent. If you look at Madonna’s history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice.” We say what’s so exciting about Madonna is that nothing is ever the obvious choice.
