Whether it was her stylish bob or shabby chic boyfriend jeans, Katie Holmes has certainly been one of this year’s biggest stylesetters. The film and Broadway star is always a showstopper in classic pieces but isn’t afraid to go for a bit more edge sometimes, like when she stepped out in denim shorts with tights recently. But this unexpected winter ensemble, paired with a coat, scarf and slouchy boots may not work on everyone. The editors at StyleWatch want to know what you think. Rumors have been swirling for weeks that Katie Holmes is starring in the next Miu Miu campaign — sources confirm exclusively to PEOPLE.com that the actress will be the next face of the high-fashion line. No details on the specifics of the campaign are out yet, but chances are we’ll have to wait a few more months to see the images as it’s the Italian label’s Spring/Summer ad campaign. Holmes follows in the star-studded footsteps of previous Miu Miu models Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst and Johnny Depp’s lady-love Vanessa Paradis. As if starring in a Broadway play wasn’t enough, Katie Holmes created her own stunning outfit for the opening of All My Sons last night. In partnership with her stylist, Jeanne Yang, Katie dazzled in a gorgeous jumpsuit of her own creation with influences that seemed to span the decades, from the delicate black lace at the neck fit for an Old-Hollywood screen siren to the Halston-inspired white silk all-in-one gathered at the waist and ankles. It’s not the first time Holmes has worn one of her own creations, sporting a chic Holmes-Yang navy halter dress to the L.A. premiere of husband Tom Cruise’s film Tropic Thunder in August. While there’s no word of anything in the works, we’d love to see Holmes create a clothing line. Tell us: Do you think Katie should be the next star to produce her own collection? Katie Holmes loves all things Roger Vivier — from her sunglasses to her purse (check out her new one!) to her fabulous shoes, she’s a loyal customer. When we caught Suri admiring one of mom’s red pumps a while back, we had no idea she would end up with a custom pair of her own red Roger Viviers! Bruno Frisoni, the creative director of the French luxury label and pal of Tom and Katie, made Suri her very own pair of iconic buckle flats (made famous by Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour). Sadly for any budding fashionistas in our own lives, these are one-offs just for this little trendsetter. Tim Gunn is never shy about his opinions on Project Runway — calling a dress a “pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park” isn’t exactly holding back. And when PEOPLE talked to the debonair fashion expert at the Tide and Downy Total Care Launch Party, he expressed his disapproval of Katie Holmes’s recent penchant for fall’s new baggy jeans. “I have to say, Katie Holmes has become so much more sophisticated in so many ways, but I think she’s in a dip right now. I can’t explain it.” Gunn actually sees the adaptation of the new look as a move back towards her younger look, saying “She ascended from this tomboyish waif look to an incredible sexy sophisticate. We realize how much style she’s capable of. I don’t get it.” But for those of us who are digging Katie’s baggy look (also spotted on Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston), Gunn does give us hope. “With the right shape, it can work very well.” – Jessica Gold Haralson

After turning heads with her new casual chic in New York, Katie Holmes returned to her usually glamorous self at the Tropic Thunder red carpet in Los Angeles. But no one could figure out who designed Katie’s fabulous navy dress — was it Lanvin? McQueen? It turns out the designer of the dress was none other than the star herself and her stylist Jeanne Yang! Though this original Holmes Yang design has gotten rave reviews, Holmes’s rep tells PEOPLE that there is no line in the works. Too bad — we’d snap up one up for ourselves!
