PEOPLE’s “No Makeup Beauties” Reveal Their Skincare Secrets

Stewart Shining

Impressed by the glowing skin of the make-up free beauties photographed for PEOPLE’s 100 Most Beautiful issue? They shared some of their beauty secrets for flawless skin with us — and what products they turn to in an emergency. Brooke Shields relies on facials at Balance Spa on Montana Avenue once every two months, where she gets an Epicuren Enzyme facial with an enzyme peel. “I just started getting more conscientious of getting facials,” she says. “It’s about that and sunscreen.” Kristen Bell’s secret weapon for breakouts? “I use a zit-zapper by Rhonda Allison, Fruit Botanica Acid. It dissolves a zit within 24 hours!” Minka Kelly uses ProActiv face wash and La Mer moisturizer — and if she can’t resist the temptation to pop a pimple? “I’ll put Neosporin or Aquaphor on it to heal it right away.” Beauty Zoe Saldana has a much more simple regime: a glass of water on her nightstand. “It helps your body shift things from your digestive system to your liver. It washes everything out, and I love that.”

Rihanna Reveals Her Style Secrets

She’s one of music’s most stylish stars, and in a revealing new interview, Rihanna dishes about her fashion obsessions and favorite beauty tips — as well as her tomboy past. “I’ve been a fashion fanatic since I was little, looking at all the international magazines. But I used to dress like a boy when I was a kid,” she admits to the British edition of In Style. “I’d wear my brother’s baggy pants and his trainers.” And her tastes have definitely changed over the years. “Now I like little skull caps, jeans, flat boots that come up to the knees. And then I play around with the top — a big T-shirt, or a sleek camisole, or a jacket. I love jackets! I have a million.” The singer gives credit for her unique fashion sense to her makeup-artist mom. “She knew everything about perfume, skincare and make-up,” she says. “She never let me wear make-up but I was secretly fascinated, so when she’d leave home, I would play around with hers.” And her surprisingly simple secret to looking fresh-faced even on a grueling world tour? “Water and rest for my skin,” she says.

Kate Moss Goes Green — With a Little Help From a Famous Friend!

Goff/INF

We’ve been chalking up Kate Moss’s radiant appearance to boyfriend Jamie Hince, but it turns out it’s actually all thanks to the ultimate rock chick turned eco-beauty junkie Jo Wood. The wife of Rolling Stone rocker Ronnie Wood and founder of the Jo Wood Organics beauty line tells PEOPLE at her Everyday Range product launch how she convinced the supermodel to go organic. “I opened her fridge to see what was organic and there was nothing. I started telling her how important it is for her little girl.” And the mom of five-year-old Lila Grace is now almost 100% converted, including using Jo’s beauty line. “Kate loves the stuff, she loves all the oils,” adds Wood. As for the model’s bright complexion, Wood chalks it up to her new organic food regimen. “It’s amazing she can get away with it. She still likes to have a good party, but her skin looks good still. I told her! You have to look after your skin but it’s what you put in you as well.” So where should an organic beginner start? “Read the labels,” Jo says. “Once you start reading labels then you only want to have things that you understand in your products.” Consider us converted.

Beauty Road Test: Beat Winter Skin and Hair

Courtesy SpaceNK.com

You don’t have to wait for warmer weather to get your supple skin and silky hair back. We road tested the best moisturizing products out there for face, hair and body — and brought you our favorites for getting winter skin back into shape.

SheerinO’kho Uptown/Downtown Wintertime: The super-moisturizing organic lotion, $105, is formulated to protect against changes in weather and guard skin from environmental pollutants.

Ole Henricksen Pure Perfection and Skin Insulator: The Danish brand’s botanical day and night creams are the perfect skincare tag-team. Pure Perfection, $48, is lightweight but super-moisturizing, and nourishes skin all night without stickiness. Herbal Day Cream, with SPF 15, $35, is a miracle at keeping skin hydrated all day long—and best of all, its non-greasy formula lets you still apply make-up with ease.

Imedeen Time Perfection oral supplement: Providing further proof that beauty isn’t just skin-deep, Imedeen tablets nourish skin from within. When taken daily, the European skincare staple, $75, protects skin from free-radicals and dramatically increases volume.

SkinMilk Body Lotion: The powder-fresh scented rejuvenating lotion uses white pond lily to leave skin soft and refreshed. And the price is pretty refreshing too. A large 22 oz. bottle of SkinMilk will set you back under $6.

Fekkai Advanced Hair care All-Day Hair Plump: At $95, the leave-in treatment is pricey, but Fekkai’s signature Hyaluronate Humectants plump up the cuticle and leave hair moisturized around the clock.

Weleda Skin Food: We love that Weleda’s $10 all-natural, all-purpose cream uses plant extracts to sooth skin and maintain its natural moisture balance, on face, hands or even chapped lips.

Sundari Omega 3 & Mandarin Lip Treatment: The $15 balm’s all-natural avocado oil and olive-based emollients leave skin moisturized without stickiness. And the orange flavor is reminiscent of warmer, sunnier days.

NIA24 Intensive Recovery Complex: This extreme cream, $110, activates skin’s regererative powers by locking in moisture. Plus its Pro-Niacin formula improves skin tone and texture to get you all set for spring.
