Perceptive royals-watchers have noticed that the Windsors have a new addition to the family — Prince William’s bushy facial hair. The heir to the throne has been sporting the sea-captain look in recent weeks, with photographers catching a clean-shaven Prince Harry and a noticeably shaggy Prince “Hairy” playing soccer on Christmas Eve. Wills even snagged runner-up in the Beard of the Year award, given out annually by the Beard Liberation Front to those who give the facially fuzzy a good name. Prince William joins other high-wattage names who’ve taken to letting their inner lumberjacks out, including Robert Pattinson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman. Say good-bye to Robert Pattinson’s sexy tousled locks. The Twilight star caused a major frenzy when he stepped out this weekend with a new crew cut. Though he may not have the long messy ‘do that won us over, we think he looks just as hot with the shorter ‘do. The second installment of Twilight doesn’t begin filming for awhile, so hopefully the longer locks will be back when Edward returns to the screen. Could Bromance star Brody Jenner be sporting a longer ‘do in the New Year? He will if his girlfriend, Playboy’s 2008 Playmate of the Year, Jayde Nicole, gets her way. The model is on a mission to convince her fellow Playmates to cut their hair for Locks of Love — which takes donated hair (a minimum of ten inches) and creates wigs for cancer patients and children with Alopecia. “I want to [grow my hair out],” Jenner told DoSomething.org at the H&M Artist Gift Lounge backstage at z100’s Jingle Ball concert, but “everybody’s been telling me, ‘No, Brody, no!” We think he could rock it. Reality star Kim Kardashian showed off a bold new do at last night’s Empowerment for Africa dinner in N.Y.C., and PEOPLE.com got the scoop on the new look straight from her longtime hairstylist Joaquin Hortal of Rita Hazan Salon — and from the star herself! Hortal made a house call to Kim’s hotel yesterday and totally transformed her look with strong and long new bangs balanced with her signature curls. He explains, “They really frame her face, accentuating her gorgeous eyes and cheekbones.” But as different as the new look is, the two almost went for an even more drastic change. “We were contemplating taking her hair short,” he says. “But opted for sexy, rock star bangs that are perfect for winter — and very New York.” For her part, Kim couldn’t wait to transform her hair. “I’ve been getting tired of the look I was sporting and wanted something fresh and bangs were just it,” she tells PEOPLE.com. “It’s amazing how they can alter your look. I’ve been definitely evolving with my own personal style and fashion sense and with that, I think I needed to change it up a bit with the hair. Celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger has coiffed just about every celeb you can name — including everyone from former First Lady Hilary Clinton to Tom Cruise, John Mayer, Julia Roberts and Lindsay Lohan. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still a few stars left that she’d love to get her hands on. PEOPLE caught up with Hershberger at the grand opening of her new L.A. salon, where she dished about her dream clients, starting with Mad Men’s retro-beauty January Jones. “She’s so gorgeous,” said Sally. “I love that whole Catherine Deneuve/Grace Kelly thing — but I want to do her in a modern-day vibe.” And another another famous blond she would style a little differently? “I love [Madonna's] long hair, but I felt like it kind of pulled her face down,” she says of the performer’s recent show in N.Y.C. “I don’t want to put her down because I love her. I would just love it a little smoother and a little more hot.” Hershberger, who also has her own line of hair products, Supreme Head, feels that the key to sexy hair is keeping things looking natural by using just a little bit of product. “You don’t want to see the product in the hair,” she says. “That’s the biggest mistake. You want to be able to run your hands through someone’s hair and have it just look sexy whatever way they move it.” — Jed Dreben
