Would You Wear Emmy Rossum’s Crystal-Studded Makeup?

Emmy Rossum is usually the picture of polished, slightly conservative good taste, so we had to look twice to make sure this was her. Emmy attended a Swarovski event at the Metropolitan Opera House in a suitably elegant Georges Chakra dress and Rickard Shah pumps, but her crystal-studded smoky eyes are what really got our attention. We’re all for a little glitter, but four different colors of Swarovski crystals glued to her eyes reminds us a little too much of 80’s club kids or drag queens to be worn out in real life. And how exactly do you remove those sparkles when you get home at night? Tell us: What do you think of Emmy’s makeup? Would you wear this look?

Forest Whitaker Gives Back at Swag Suite

Taking everything that isn’t tacked down in a swag suite can be awfully tempting for most, but apparently, not all stars are susceptible. Turning the tradition of the swag suite on its head, Golden Globe winner Forest Whittaker spent an hour talking to the various nonprofit organizations assembled at the GBK suite at the Friar’s Club in Beverly Hills. During his conversation with Educating Young Minds founder Angeles Nichols, he realized one of his good friends Bill Duke was a board member. He promised, “I’ll give him a call tomorrow!” to ask about ways he can help the group in the future. The actor then spent time chatting with representatives from Habitat for Humanity, Amberwatch, and Global Green. GBK president Gavin Keilly remarked, “Forest pretty much left empty-handed. That didn’t make the vendors the happiest people but Forest took time with what he thought it should be about. That says a lot about who he is.”

Sundance Must-Have: Neutral Knit Beanies

Besides supporting independent films, Sundance is not exactly your typical film festival. While starlets swan around Cannes and Venice in gorgeous gowns, actresses hit the streets of Park City, UT clad in fuzzy boots, tucked-in jeans, ski parkas — and this year, it seems there is one hat that everyone must have! Stars Keri Russell, Gretchen Mol, Kristen Bell, Sienna Miller and Famke Janssen have already been spotted in cozy beanies in neutral shades from oatmeal to gray. Now this is a trend we can get behind — wearable, weather-appropriate, and affordable! The only question that remains: What to do about hat-head?

Check back every day this week for more Sundance coverage on Off the Rack.

Besides being nominated for the upcoming SAG awards, what else do Jennifer Hudson and Leonardo DiCaprio share in common? What Do You Think of Helen Mirren’s Golden Globes Gown?

Getting dressed for the red carpet can be daunting for anyone, but just as in her much-nominated roles, Helen Mirren makes it look so easy. We thought that the double Globes winner looked fabulous in her custom-made Donna Karan gown at the awards show, but other blogs have been buzzing about a sixty-one-year old showing off that much cleavage. We thought she looked sexy and comfortable in her own skin, but tell us: What do you think of Helen’s Globes gown? Is it appropriate or too much for a sixty-something?

Katharine McPhee: Better Glam or Natural?

After getting the scoop from her hair and makeup artist, we love seeing Katharine McPhee get glammed up for the red carpet. She looked perfectly polished at the Golden Globe after parties on Monday night. Then, for a Wednesday lunch, we spotted Katharine looking very natural with minimal makeup, straight hair and dark-rimmed glasses. The former Idol seems to be one of those lucky girls who looks pretty good either way. Tell us: Which way do you like Katharine? Glam or natural?

For the latest on the new season of Idol see our American Idol 2007 blog.
